Cryptozoology : the study of, and search for, animals, especially legendary animals (such as Sasquatch) usually in order to evaluate the possibility of their existence. (Their definition's grammar was horrible, coming from me that's an insult.)
Above it the definition of Cryptozoology as Merriam-Webster's website defines it. The definition is as silly as the study itself.
Last night I watched Monster Quest on the History Channel, a show that I actually really enjoy, as pointless as it is. The show's best feature is the over dramatic Ted Koppel-esque narrator. However, as much as I enjoy the show, as Gabe so aptly pointed out, if the show ever really found anything conclusive it would be on the news way before it was reported on Monster Quest.
In any event, I had to laugh last night when the show described one of the Monster Quest team members as a "world renowned" Cryptozoologist.
...World Renowned?
...Really?!
..How did he amass such notoriety? Is this man the Dian Fossey of Cryptozoology? Did he pull some Gorilla in the Mist shit and live with a gaggle of sasqui in the Appalachians.
If you’re a "World Renowned" Cryptozoologist, shouldn't you have found something by now?
A "world renowned," Cryptozoologist had better have Sasquatch living in his fucking basement and the Loch Ness Monster as his son's godfather. Otherwise, I'm not buying it.
Also, where did you study Cryptozoology? What community college offers that as a major? Or are you just a wayward crackpot Zoologist?
Get me a picture of you and the Jersey Devil eating s’ mores and then, maybe I'll respect you! Honestly, at the moment the only thing Cryptozoologists have in their "W" column is the Giant Squid.
That makes their record 1 and 1,000,000. Good Hustle Guys!
The Jersey Devil from the Monster Quest MonsterPedia.
Honestly, do yourself a favor and look at the Monster's in Monster Quest's Monsterpedia. Some of my personal favorite entries include:
- Birdzilla
- Swamp Beast ( a cousin of Sasquatch?)
- Jersey Devil
- Werewolf
- Mutant Canine
- Black Beast of Exmoor
Cryptozoology = Bullshit
"World Renowned" Crytozoologist = Ultra-Bullshit
